"Ecological" visit of teachers and pupils of Lutsk schools to Germany
On September 18-22, 2018 in the framework of the project "Ecological friendship across borders", implemented by the Executive Committee of the Lutsk City Council in association with the Lippe District, five teachers of ecology and three pupils from Lutsk schools visited Lippe District of the Federal Republic of Germany.
During the stay the delegation got acquainted with waste management and environmental education in the Lippe District. The delegation visited waste recycling companies, in particular: the composting plant in the city of Lemgo, the waste incinerator in Bielefeld, the waste collecting company Tönsmeier-Group in the city of Port-Westfalica, the covered with solar panels inactive landfill, the energy-saving building of the City Administration and got acquainted with the climate and energy strategy of the District.
The project "Ecological friendship across borders" aims to raise the environmental awareness among the inhabitants of Lutsk by conducting appropriate educational activities, establishing contacts and exchanging experience among representatives of environmental and waste management institutions. The project helps the Lutsk City Council in the implementing of separate waste collection and recycling.
The participants returned from Germany with great impressions, new ideas, plans and understanding the importance of environmental protection.

In Lutsk within the framework of the project the following events were implemented:
• Purchasing the 120 containers for separate garbage collection;
• Visits of Waste Management Experts from the Lippe District to Lutsk to discuss the writing of a Waste Management Concept (February and September 2018);
• A visit of pupils and teachers of ecology from Lutsk to Lippe District;
• Holding the ecological festival "Green School" (May 20, 2018).
