Hryhoriy Pustovit met with the First Secretary of Political Affairs, Head of the Department for Policy, Economy and Public Relations of the British Embassy in Ukraine Kateryna Davenport
On the 1st of November, 2018 the Secretary of Lutsk City Council, Acting Mayor Hryhoriy Pustovit met with the First Secretary of Political Affairs, the Head for Policy, Economy and Public Relations Department of the British Embassy in Ukraine Kateryna Davenport and the Coordinator of Embassy Programs Svitlana Yavorska.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with the region and city leaders, representatives of different organizations in order to discuss the social and political situation.
During the meeting the Secretary of Lutsk City Council said, that Lutsk has been actively developing, much attention is paid to the development of the tourism, there are many festivals held here in Lutsk in order to make city more attractive for tourists, in particular, "Night in Lutsk Castle", "Bandershtadt", "Polissya Summer with Folklore", etc.
He also noted on the active development of international relations, mentioning that Lutsk is twinned with the cities in Poland, Lithuania, Georgia, Turkey, China, Belarus.
“Considerable attention is paid to the cooperation with the international financial organizations. Two projects in cooperation with NEFCO were successfully implemented by our city. Currently, credit and grant agreements on the thermo-modernization of 40 buildings of the budget sphere have already been signed. City received 30% energy savings on the objects, where the thermo-modernization was made during the previous years. In cooperation with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development the heating system of Lutsk was in the process of modernization. Equipment has already been replaced, inefficient boiler houses have been closed, a solid fuel boiler on Bozhenko Street has been installed, which will enable gas saving, and which will not be used for water heating during the summer period", emphasized the Secretary of Lutsk City Council.
Hryhoriy Pustovit noted that Lutsk is attractive for foreign investors. Several enterprises with foreign investments successfully operate in Lutsk , in particular JSC "SKF Ukraine", PJSC JV "Terichem-Lutsk", "Chemosvit Lutskchim" Ltd etc.
The Secretary of Lutsk City Council told about the situation in Ukraine, which is complicated due to the continuing war in the East. According to his words, the views of Ukrainians have changed now, they became more friendly and united. From the beginning of the war in 2014 in Volnovaha many Lutsk citizens were killed. Currently Lutsk is in an active cooperation with this town. Children from Volnovaha arrive to Lutsk at Easter and during the summer holidays.
Hryhoriy Pustovit also added that with the joint efforts of Lutsk citisents and local businessmen the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kiev Patriarchate has been building in Volnovaha.
The Secretary of Lutsk City Council told about the process of decentralization. According to his words, this process continues, but not in the way it would be desirable. Hryhoriy Pustovit emphasised that there are many questions concerning the creation of united territorial communities.
