Lutsk has been represented at the European Youth Meeting in Detmold (Germany)
The event brought together over 50 participants from Greece, France, Belgium, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany and Italy. During 8 days the youth from partner cities of Detmold and Lippe district (Germany) exchanged experience on water resources conservation in their regions, discussed problems of pollution and water scarcity in Europe and in the world and looked for ways of solutions.
Lutsk was represented by young participants who had gained significant achievements in the fields of biology, chemistry and ecology: Vladyslav Khabazniak, Solomiia Sabin, Veronika Yevdokimova, Mariia Zaradiuk, Kostiantyn Prystupa. In charge of the youth group was Anna Vintsiuk, Deputy Head of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department, Head of International Relations Division.
The organizers prepared an interesting and informative program for the delegations with educational, cultural and integration activities which included the meeting with renowned German politicians in particular with Elmar Brock, a former member of the European Parliament, who has held this position for 39 years. Participants had an opportunity to discuss the role of the EU in water conservation issues with European Parliament member Birgit Sippel.
Also participants met with the representatives of local authorities: Mayor of Detmold Reiner Heller, Deputy Governor of the Lippe District Stephan Grigat, and Head of Administration of the Lippe District Karl-Eitel John.
In the framework of the visit the participants got acquainted with the issues of water resources management in the Lippe district, the work of the Youth Climate Parliament, and the opportunities for young people offered by the Erasmus+ program, they visited the water treatment plant and the spring that supplies water to the part of Detmold. All participants gave the presentation on the state of water resources in their home regions.
This visit was full of cultural events. Every evening each delegation presented their country and city with promotional videos, national games, songs and treats. The representatives of our city told about Lutsk and Ukraine wearing traditional Ukrainian embroidered costumes.
At the end of the youth exchange, everyone received a Youthpass certificate - a youth passport from the Erasmus+ program, which will be useful for participants when applying for the next international programs and applying for jobs.
