Lutsk in 2019: physical culture and sports
2019 was successful in physical culture and sports development. New sports facilities appeared in our city and existing ones were repaired and reconstructed. 2019 was also rich in sports events of international, all-Ukrainian and local levels.
For the first time since having gained the Independence, the European Athletics Championship Super League took place in Lutsk. During two days 6 and 7 July 2019 Lutsk became a center of sport. The strongest athletes from 8 European national teams gathered in Lutsk for the competition: Ukraine, Belarus, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Spain, Estonia and the Netherlands.
For the excellent organizing and holding the European Athletics Championship, Lutsk received an award from the First Vice-President of the European Athletics Association Dobromir Karamarinov and a thank-you-letter from the President of the European Athletics Association Swain Arne Hansen.
In July, Lutsk's Stadium “Avanhard” hosted another prestigious athletics competition, the Ukrainian Adult and Youth Team Championship. 450 Ukrainian athletes came to our city, including many famous ones: Alina Shukh, Anna Plotitsyna, Nataliia Pryshchepa, Danylo Danylenko, Vladyslav Mazur and others. These competitions were qualifiers for the European Championship. The winner of each type of competition was automatically included in the national team of Ukraine.
Also last year, Lutsk hosted the Lutsk Boxing Cup, an international boxing tournament that brought together 250 athletes from Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Lithuania and Belarus. That competition was dedicated to the memory of Lutsk athletes Vasyl Lototsky, Demyan Usyk and Oleg Furs.
For the first time in many years, international football competitions among children born in 2006 started at the stadium of the Veresneve residential district. Teams from Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine took part in that football event.
In September 2019 there was a long-awaited opening of the first in Lutsk multifunctional sports ground with durable polyurethane coating on Hrabovskoho Street 7, 9. Now the youngest residents are able to use the playground not only for playing football, but also to do other kinds of sports. In 2020, it is planned to arrange similar playgrounds in other parts of our city to attract more residents to doing sport.

On Hlushets Street the construction of the city's first polyurethane-covered basketball court is underway. The site has been paved, basketball boards, fences, stands and lighting have been installed. Currently the landscaping works are underway there.
In the yard on Sobornosti Ave., 37b a mini-football field of size 30x15 with artificial covering was opened. These new facilities enable children to spend more time outdoors, play football and other games, and for adults - on the weekends to do gymnastics.
Last year Regional Children's and Youth Sports School №3 which is attended by more than 400 children was renovated, in particular locker rooms, showers, corridors, bathrooms on the ground floor. Currently the renovation of the gym is underway.
In Specialized children's and youth sports school of the Olympic swimming reserve of Lutsk the overhaul of the part of the roof and the floor in the shower rooms was done.
