Reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities will become a long-term investment in the city developement
On July 20, 2020 in the EVODA office center a presentation of the project for reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities of Municipal Enterprise "Lutskvodokanal" took place. The presentation was attended by First Deputy Mayor Hryhorii Nedopad, Adviser to the Mayor Ihor Polishchuk, representatives of "Lutskvodokanal" and mass media.
The project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, began in 2017. It is assumed that the funds for the reconstruction of treatment facilities will be allocated due to a loan from the European Investment Bank. The loan amount will be about 11 million euros.
Wastewater treatment plant in Lutsk has been in operation since 1973. In recent years, it has been treating about 44-45 thousand m3 of wastewater per day, with a maximum flow in the wet period of about 75 thousand m3 per day. Purified water from secondary settling tanks is sent to biological reservoirs, from which it flows into the Styr River. A significant part of treatment facilities are worn out and needs reconstruction: aeration tanks, aeration systems, gratings, sand traps, blowers, pumps, metal parts of primary and secondary settling tanks.
In addition to improving the technical condition of the plant and the quality of its work, the reconstruction will also allow to start a production of organic fertilizer from sludge. To do this, a special shop for sludge drying, equipped with facilities for removing excess moisture, will be installed.
The European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities, Lutsk City Council and Lutskvodokanal will take part in this project.
This reconstruction is a long-term investment, which will allow to improve the operation of treatment plant and improve the environmental situation in the city.
