The "Green School" Festival – the Highlight of the Europe Day
Numerous and colorful events were waiting for Lutsk citizens and guests within the Europe Day. The highlight of the celebration became so called “Green School”, within which funny and entertaining games, contests with great eco-gifts and ice-cream were held on the Theater Square.

On the Theater Square young artists painted on pavement their vision of solving environmental problems, focusing the attention of adults on environmental consciousness. The smallest participants enjoyed themselves in game zone “Green Kindergarten”, where children gladly played, cut out vegetables and fruits from the paper and colored the pictures. Workshops on production of nice things “The Second Life” and “green” photo zone with professional photographer caught much attention of visitors. Participants of art studio “Magic Brush” presented original pictures from toys, cellphones and keys. Young artists creatively united the artistic image and ecological culture, calling not only to clog the Earth, but also to clean it by means of waste recycling. Besides, one could join the attraction “Hand over the used battery and light bulb - save the hedgehog - get a candy”.
Europe Day in Lutsk 2018
Since 2003 we have been celebrating Europe Day in Ukraine. Our city becomes a platform for acquaintance with European Union countries, their culture, history and customs. It’s a holiday of peace and unity, to which all enthusiastic and curious people join.
This year Lutsk welcomed 12 pupils from partner cities: 5 from the Republic of Poland (Rzeszów, Zamość, Lublin, Olsztyn, Bartoszyce) and 1 from the Republic of Belarus. Together with 25 pupils from Lutsk schools they took part in the European Olympiad. 37 participants wrote tests and creative tasks concerning knowledge about European Union and about its countries-members. This year questions were dedicated to the environmental issues, particularly ecology preserving.
And if for several years the victory was traditionally received by students of the regional center, this year the winner's diploma will be carried home by Michał Worek from Rzeszów (the Republic of Poland). The second place is taken by Stanislav Dashchenko from Lutsk (school № 25), and the third one – by Michał Pranagal from Lublin (the Republic of Poland). The winners of the Olympiad got valuable prizes, and all the participants – symbolic presents.
