Celebrating of Europe Day in Lutsk started with the "European Olympiad"
Every year on the third Sunday in May traditional events on the occasion of Europe Day are held in Lutsk. Together with the schools, universities and non-governmental organizations Lutsk City Council organizes events aimed at promoting the idea of Ukraine European integration.
Celebration begun with the international competition "European Olympiad" - a competition of knowledge about Europe and the European Union among pupils from Lutsk and partner-cities of Lutsk in the Republic of Poland. This year 9 students came to Lutsk from Lublin, Rzeszów and Zamość.
Lutsk City Mayor Mykola Romaniuk welcomed participants of the "European Olympiad". "It has become a wonderful tradition that Europe Day celebration we start with young people, who always confirm the high level of knowledge about Europe and the European Union. It is very good, because we are going to live, work together and build common future" – Mr. Mayor said and wished success and victory for the participants. The Head of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department of Lutsk City Council Vira Kudriavtseva also welcomed participants and explained the rules of Olympiad.
By the way, the creative tasks for the participants of the "European Olympiad" were prepared in English. Pupils showed awareness of the European Union structure, its economy and finances, history. Participants and winners award ceremony was traditionally held at the Theater Square of our city. Young experts of Europe received gifts from the organizers and sponsors of the celebration.
