Delegation from Lutsk City Council shared its experience with European colleagues about the implementation of participative democracy tools
During September 13-16, 2017 the delegation from Lutsk City Council had a working visit to the city of Rzeszow (the Republic of Poland) and participated in the activities of the project “STEP UP - involving the European citizens into the city management”. The project was implemented within the framework of the program “Europe for Citizens”. Project purpose: exchange of experience and best practices in the use of participative democracy tools in city governing. The Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council is as a partner of the project.
The city of Lutsk was represented at the event by the Deputy Director of Economy Policy Department, the Head of Investments Policy Division Sergii Omelchuk, the Head of International Relations Division of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department Anna Vintsiuk, Specialist of Project Activities Division of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department, Tetiana Moseichuk.
In the event also took part the delegations from other Rzeszow partner cities: Presov, Svidník, Stropkov (Slovakia), Pula (Croatia), Nyiregyhaza (Hungary), Satu-Mare (Romania), Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv (Ukraine).
The event was a great opportunity to present and discuss participative democracy tools implemented by local authorities in participating cities and to create opportunities for attracting city residents to the decision-making process. An interesting and rich program included presentations, trainings, lectures and work in mixed groups that facilitated communication between the project partners. The event became a platform for new developments in order to implement joint projects in future.
