The Lutsk delegation has visited Trakai District in Lithuania

During May 31-June 1, official events were held in Trakai District (Republic of Lithuania) to celebrate the annual event “Trakai Summer 2024”. At the invitation of Mayor Andrius Šatevičius, representatives of Lutsk City Council visited Trakai. The delegation included Liliya Yelova, Director of Finance, Budget and Audit Department, Olena Barska, Head of Organization Department, and Inna Romanova, Deputy Director of Legal Department, Head of Litigation Department.

Traditionally, a solemn procession was held on the streets of Trakai involving all delegations from partner cities. The event was attended by representatives from Poland, Germany, Turkey, Georgia and Greece. The event programme also included artistic performances by local groups and a festival of national minorities.

As part of the visit, working meetings with the administration of Trakai District were held. The partnership agreement between Lutsk and this Lithuanian region was signed back in 2010. The cooperation included exchange visits of delegations as well as a joint project to promote historical and cultural heritage. When russia commenced its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the community of Trakai District provided medical supplies as humanitarian aid to Lutsk.

In the meetings, the participants discussed the development of partnership relations both during martial law and in the post-war period in Ukraine. They also expressed gratitude to the Trakai community and the Republic of Lithuania for their support of the Ukrainian people throughout the war.

As a sign of solidarity with Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and independence, blue and yellow flags were hung on administrative buildings, private homes, and public places in the district.
