The delegations from Zamość and Rzeszów visited Lutsk within the framework of implementation the Polish-Ukrainian project “Modernization of zoos in Zamość and Lutsk and development of concept of creating the recreational area in Rzeszów to promote cross border nature tourism”, which is being realized within the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013 jointly by the Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council and Zamość and Rzeszów адміністраціями міст Замость і Жешув.
The delegations from Zamość and Rzeszów, headed by the Project Manager Marcin Grabski got acquainted with the amount of works, due to be carried out.
During the working meeting, which took place in the Session Hall of the Lutsk City Council, the Deputy Mayor of Lutsk strengthened on the prospects of the Lutsk Zoo development. He was pleased that 1 528 153, 51 Euro out of 2 580 786, 33 Euro (which is the total sum of the project’s co-financing) will be invested in Lutsk Zoo. He was convinced that after the reconstruction the number of visitors will considerably increase.
Marcin Grabski and the Director of the Department for the City’s Greenery of Rzeszów Alexandra Wonsowicz-Duh expressed their considerations regarding further cooperation. They marked that in spite of the fact that there is no Zoo in the City of Rzeszów, due to the project it is planned to create the recreational area together with Zoo corner.
Project Coordinator in Lutsk Vasyl Baitsym in details presented the project concept, which predetermines the following activities:
building the camp for bears with cages, observation terraces and pavilion.
building the camp for lions with cages, observation terraces and pavilion.
improvement and landscaping (utilities), heating, energy networks, lighting, drainage and water, walking paths, monitoring, fence.
production of 2 big informational tables.
production of small informational table.

The Project’s implementation period constitutes 24 months, the main construction works are planned to be carried out in 2014.
The architect Vasyl Duz-Kriatchenko showed the sketches and drawings, according to which the construction will be carried out. He marked that first of all the roads, utility systems, fencing, two camps for bears and lions will be built. Later the construction of the administrative building, veterinary hospitals will be carried out.
Zoo Director Lyudmila Denysenko presented the detailed information about the problems of Lutsk Zoo and urgent issues that need to be addressed.
Vasyl Baitsym noted that the aim of this project is to increase the importance of tourism as a factor that promotes socio-economic development of Zamość, Rzeszów and Lutsk, which will help to create new jobs, increase incomes in tourism sphere and provide satisfactory tourist services.
This is the second meeting of the partners within the project. For the first time they met in Zamość.
