European Olimpiad in Lutsk
On 16 May 2015 Lutsk traditionally celebrated the Day of Europe. The festivities started with the European olimpiad – the contest about knowledge on Europe and European Union among the pupils from Lutsk and the partner cities schools. This year the foreign guests included students from the Polish cities of Rzeszów, Lublin, Toruń and Chełm.
All the participants were greeted with the Lutsk City Mayor’s welcoming word. He stressed on the importance of the participation in the contest, which indicates that all the present young people have the stong determination of being European and aspire towards European values.
Head of International Cooperation and Project Activities Vira Kudriavtseva informed about the contest terms and regulations.
The Olimpiad participants had their chance to test their English and awareness about the European Union structures, their economy and finances, the history of foundation and development.
Considering the results of the contest the first place in the European Olimpiad was taken by the pupil of Lutsk school # 25 Stanislav Dashchenko, second place – by the student from the Polish city of Rzeszów Kajetan Korszeń, the third place – by the student from the Polish city of Lublin Piotr Tomczuk.
The winners and all the participants were solemnly awarded diplomas from Lutsk City Mayor and presents from the diplomatic missions of the European Union countries, the EU Delegation to Ukraine and the sponsors on the stage of the Europe Day festivities in the Central Lesia Ukrainka Park of Culture and Recreation.
