International Forum of Intercultural Cities Mayors “Port of Cultures” took place in Lutsk
On 24-25 August the International Forum of Intercultural Cities Mayors “Port of Cultures” took place in Lutsk City Council session hall.
Lutsk City Mayor Mykola Romaniuk thanked all the participants of the Forum for their vist to our city. He expressed gratitude to the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, to Coordinator of the Intercultural Cities project Saulje Iljinykh, to Director of Development Centre “Democracy through Culture” Alexander Butsenko for their help in organizing the event.
As City Mayor said “the most important thing for people is to change the stereotype of closeness to intercultural dialogue”. He also added that “our task is to attract more cities to intercultural inititive. All people, who want to hear each other, are here. So, this must be continued”.
Mykola Romaniuk expressed hope that each participant of the Forum had gained good impressions and new ideas, and he wished everyone to have great time in our city.
As a result of Forum, a Declaration of Intercultural Cities Mayors Forum “Port of Cultures” was adopted. The participants declared their desire to promote transparency of local communities and their interaction through intercultural dialogue and joint projects in different spheres.
Note: The representatives from the following cities attended the Intercultural Cities Forum: Gori (Georgia), Botkyrka (Sweden), Geneva ( Switzerland), Lublin (Poland), as well as representatives of Ukrainian cities: Pavlograd, Pryluky, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Vinnytsia, Bilohirsk and Melitopol.
