International runners and cyclists race “Way to Freedom” took place in Lutsk
On 15 June the International runners and cyclists race “Way to Freedom” took place in Lutsk. The event was jointly organized by General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk and Lutsk City Council and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary from holding the first democratic elections in Poland. The idea of the race was to once again stress on the integrity of Ukraine and its aspiration towards European Union and European values taking into account the Poland experience.
Approximately 700 people ran or rode their bicycles along the streets of our ancient city. Those were people of different age and different social status. All of them were united by their passion for sports and physical training.
The Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk Beata Brzywczy and Deputy Mayor of Lutsk Taras Iakovlev greeted the participants and thanked everyone for joining the initiative.
It was really symbolic that the column of bicyclists and runners was led by three cyclists who were holding flags of Ukraine, Poland and the European Union.
