Young residents of Lutsk visited the Bavarian city of Schweinfurt

Young residents of Lutsk visited the Bavarian city of Schweinfurt

At the invitation of the Mayor of the partner city of Schweinfurt (Germany) Sebastian Remelé, schoolchildren from Lutsk City Territorial Community spent 29 June - 6 July at a summer camp.

The organisers prepared a diverse and interesting programme of activities and classes for the children. Every day during the week, the young people attended lessons at the Walther-Rathenau Gymnasium, where they had the opportunity not only to communicate with their German peers and improve foreign language skills, but also compare the education systems of Ukraine and Germany as well as demonstrate their knowledge of various subjects. It is worth noting that the teachers and event organizers were pleasantly surprised by the intelligence, openness and sincerity of the children from Lutsk. They also noted the high interest of the students in expanding their horrizons, their good manners and desire to learn more about the culture of a foreign country.

The German partners made sure that the cultural programme of the visit was varied and filled with interesting activities. The Ukrainian students visited local youth centres, a swimming pool, played sports and took part in excursions to historical sites and cultural attractions in the region.

A trip to the German city of Würzburg left the children with pleasant memories. They got acquainted with the city's architecture, visited the Schönborn residence and tried out traditional Bavarian dishes.

At the end of their stay in Schweinfurt, the students attended a charity evening of German-Ukrainian friendship aimed at raising funds for the humanitarian needs of Lutsk City Community. During the event, the youth met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Germany and the Mayor of Schweinfurt.
