Lutsk in 2019: cultural renaissance

Lutsk is taking confident steps to modernize art institutions. Positive changes in this area began two years ago, and 2019 - was almost the most successful in this regard.
Last year almost 89 million UAH was allocated from the local budget for the support, functioning and improvement of art education institutions, capital construction and their reconstruction.
In particular, the concert hall of the Frederic Chopin Music School №1 was modernized beyond recognition. Today it is one of the best halls in the city in terms of its external aesthetics and technical content.
As the Advisor to the Mayor, Council member Ihor Polishchuk mentioned earlier the hall was completely destroyed and was not used. Today it is one of the best concert halls in Lutsk. There is a full mechanics of the stage, good lighting and sound. The restored grand piano is also one of the best in terms of technical condition in the city.
In 2019, the roof of the school was completed and major repairs were carried out for a total amount of almost 6 million UAH, furniture in classrooms and offices were renovated, musical instruments were purchased.
Within the external sitting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Humanitarian and Information Policy, the deputies visited the Music School №1, where a meeting-dialogue between representatives of the Committee, city authorities, headmasters and teachers of art schools took place. It is significant that the representatives of the committee came to Lutsk to get an idea of culture and cultural and artistic institutions in the conditions of decentralization and to hear the opinion of those who form the artistic and creative aura of our state.
For the first time during thirty years the music school №2 was renovated. The process was launched in 2017. Last year the hall and corridors on the first and second floors, walls, ceiling, economical lighting, energy-saving windows, doors with sound insulation were overhauled here. More than one and a half million hryvnias were spent on it from the city budget.
It was possible to purchase new and comfortable chairs for visitors, furniture for classrooms and offices, musical instruments for additional funds.
Lutsk City Council has started the completion of the third music school. Earlier the classrooms and corridors were repaired, furniture for classrooms and offices, musical instruments, stage costumes and shoes were purchased.

The art school also underwent changes. A muffle furnace has been installed for pottery classes, and the premises for ceramic workshop has been renovated.
Last year the works on major repairs and insulation of the roof and facade, replacement of windows began in the school.
Particular attention is also paid to the city libraries.
"Library-studio DiM"– is the first and so far the only project in Ukraine, where both adults and children can learn something new and useful. Yesterday's ordinary children's book collection has today become a modern comfortable space for communication and learning. In addition to more than fifty thousand books, after major repairs and technical re-equipment, non-standard furniture and modern appliances have found their place here. 3,620,000 UAH was allocated from the city budget for this project.

The Lutsk library №2 for children has been turned into a modern family leisure space, and a library coworking center has been created in the library №6 for adults. In total, new books and computers have been purchased in the city libraries for the development of information resources and technologies for over 500,000 UAH.

After half a century of its "revival", the House of Culture of the Veresneve microdistrict also has waited its turn. This is the most remote area from the center of our city. For 1,055,000 hryvnias, which were allocated from the city budget, the cultural institution underwent a major overhaul of the auditorium, stage and balcony.
More than two thousand students are involved in the art education of our city, who attend 20 creative groups, play in orchestras and ensembles. Their skills and abilities are evaluated every year during the final action "Ovation". This ranking competition takes place among students of three music and art schools of the city in order to identify creatively gifted youth.

In 2019 7 laureates were determined in separate nominations, who received artistic awards from the mayor, and another 38 participants received monetary rewards.
Last year Lutsk hosted a festival of high music - "Chopin Spring". The competition has acquired international status for the first time. Almost 90 talented young pianists from Ukraine, Poland and Belarus demonstrated their piano skills and promoted the creative heritage of Frederic Chopin.

Amateur groups of our city also declare themselves at the national and international levels. Exemplary children's and youth folk dance ensemble "Volynyanochka" and folk amateur dance ensemble "Volynyanka" are the multiple winners of festivals and competitions.
