Lutsk will receive a grant of nearly EUR 2.2 million for the modernization of wastewater system equipment and the construction of two solar power plants

We continue our cooperation with the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO).
Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk signed an agreement in Helsinki, Finland, to implement the project "Reconstruction of sewage pumping stations and installation of solar electric panels in Lutsk."
Project Donor: Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance (DSIF).
DSIF is a concessional finance fund established by Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and administered by the Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), registered in Denmark.
NEFCO will act as the Fund Manager, overseeing the trust fund and providing support during the project's implementation.
The total project cost is EUR 2,730,000, comprising:
Grant funds: EUR 2,190,000
City budget co-financing: EUR 540,000
*The project includes:
reconstruction of two sewage pumping stations (No. 1 and No. 2);
reconstruction of the central diversion chamber;
installation of a central SCADA system;
installation of a 664 kW solar power plant at the Hnidavska pumping station of the 2nd lift;
installation of a 640 kW solar power plant at the sewage treatment plant.
*Following the implementation of the project, electricity consumption is expected to be reduced by 2,471 MWh/year, which will increase energy independence and reliability of water supply and sewage services, as well as reduce CO2 emissions by 1,977 tonnes/year, with a 7-year payback period for all investments.
This investment will enable future savings of UAH 1.5 per cubic metre of water supplied by MUE "Lutskvodokanal".
In cooperation with NEFCO, we have already managed to implement a range of energy-saving projects. We are glad that the partnership continues, and we have the opportunity to attract additional grant funds to enhance the well-being of our community.
