The Memorandum on cooperation was signed between Lutsk and Lippe district (Germany)
On November 27-29 Lutsk City Mayor Mykola Romaniuk paid an official visit to Federative Republic of Germany. The main goal of a trip was establishing partner contacts and participating in the evening of German-Ukrainian friendship in the town of Bad Salzuflen.
Within the framework of the visit a number of important meetings was planned. In particular, on Friday, November 28 Mykola Romaniuk had a meeting with the Mayor of Bad Salzuflen Wolfgang Honsdorf. The head of the union «Friendship bridges to Ukraine» prof. Karl-Hermann Krog participated in the meeting as well. The parties disscussed a long-term cooperation in the context of charitable activities and students, educators internship in the institutions of Bad Salzuflen. Besides, Mykola Romaniuk and Wolfgang Honsdorf emphasized the role of head of the union «Friendship bridges to Ukraine» in German-Ukrainian cooperation strengthening. By the way, the parties had a conversation on a topic of socio-political situation in Ukraine and the importance of its integration into the European community. Concluding the meeting, Mykola Romaniuk left the note in the guest book.
In the city of Detmold Lutsk City Mayor met with the head of Lippe district Friedel Heuwinkel and with the heads of departments for culture and secretariat. The parties declared willingness to cooperation and establishing partnership contacts having signed the Memorandum of cooperation. The document declares: "It is believed that cooperation of the Parties will bring benefit for developing of both regions, considering the previous experience of a long-term cooperation with the support and mediation of the Union "Friendship bridges to Ukraine". The parties declare their desire to expand and develop cooperation between regions, express their interest to make appropriate formal legal steps. They consider it is necessary to start working on preparing a full-scale partnership agreement, as well as establishing a joint working group on this issue. Signing of the Memorandum was of a particulary importance because Lutsk didn't have a partner-city in Germany before, as well as Lippe district had no contacts with any Ukrainian city. Signing of this document demonstrates both: the significance of a long-term work of the union "Friendship bridges to Ukraine" and the personal achievement of Mr.Krog in this field.
During the meeting Lutsk City Mayor also told about Lutsk experience in the context of international cooperation, informed on international projects our city implements with partner-cities abroad. It was agreed that soon priority areas for cooperation will be worked out for both regions.
Mykola Romaniuk also had the opportunity to meet with the Prince of Lippe district, whose residence is in the family castle of his dynasty in Detmold. Castle is the most important historical and architectural monument of Detmold, built in the style of Weser-Renaissance. Prince of Lippe district Armin stressed on importance of cooperation between German and Ukrainian regions and emphasized his personal care concerning the fate of Ukraine and its establishment as a democratic state.
