New horizons within the German-Ukrainian partnership between the cities programme

On 2-3 November delegation of the Lutsk City Council consisting of Head of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department Vira Kurkova and Head of International Relations Division of this Department Anna Vintsyuk participated in the First Conference of German-Ukrainian partnership between cities programme "Modern challenges in cooperation within partnerships", which took place in the city Nuremberg (Germany). The event was opened by the special guests – Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, the Member of the German Bundestag, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development and  Vadym Kostyuk, Consul General of Ukraine in Munich. The main objective of the conference was the presentation of opportunities and resources that can be used for deepening the German-Ukrainian partnership between cities. In addition, Vasyl Kuybida, the president of the National Academy for public administration under the President of Ukraine in his report initiated a debate on the issue of decentralization processes in Ukraine.

The German delegation also positively commented the process of the decentralization in Ukraine and early achievements in this respect, especially financial benefits, acquired by local communities.

The conference was also attended by the colleagues from the partner Lippe District: Karl-Eitel John, Head of Lippe District administration and Bernd-Heinrich Korte, the partnership specialist in the Lippe District administration. Let us remind that  partnership agreement between Lutsk and Lippe district was signed in September 2015. During the conference, partners from Lutsk and Lippe discussed possible ideas for joint projects that may be financially supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
