Taras Iakovlev will participate in the “Energy Cities” meeting in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium)
On 23-25 April 2014 an annual “Energy Cities” meeting will take place in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium). The meeting is organized for mayors or deputy mayors of the cities that signed the Covenant of Mayors and presented their Action plans of constant energy development, which include the measures concerning central heating. The study visit will give the participants an opportunity to understand the concept of central heating strategy and its integration into the Action plan of constant energy development of the city, learn the local strategies in the areas of energy and effective use of renewable power sources, as well as share the experience in the issues of constant energy development, which will help to improve the life quality in cities.
Deputy Mayor Taras Yakovlev will take part in the event on behalf of Lutsk City Council.

Energy Cities is a European association of local administrations which united for strengthening their positions in the sphere of constant power engineering. This Association was founded in 1990 and now accounts more than 1000 big and small cities in 30 countries. The official offices of Energy Cities are situated in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium) and Besançon (French Republic).
Covenant of Mayors is a large-scale initiative of European cities which attracts local and regional administrations to control the processes of constant energy development and climate preservation. It is based on the voluntary obligations of the participant cities of Covenant of Mayors to reduce CO2 emissions at least by 20% by introducing energy saving measures and use of renewable power sources.
Action plan for constant energy development of Lutsk until 2020 was prepared and presented to the Covenant of Mayors for approval in 2012.
This Plan is the main strategic document which shows how the city is going to reduce the greenhouse emissions until 2020, having an impact on the global warming.
