Today, on November 30, representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine have visited the city for the opening ceremony of the LNTU dormitory designated to house internally displaced students and teachers of the institution. The reconstruction of the building was funded by grant of the European Union as part of the project “Reconstruction of an educational building of the Lutsk National Technical University into a dormitory for IDPs”.

Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk held a meeting with the delegation at Lutsk City Council, where he expressed gratitude to the European partners for their contribution to the joint project implementation. “We are sincerely thankful for your attention to the challenges that internally displaced Ukrainians go through. Your support has been invaluable in addressing a crucial issue of improving the living conditions for this specific group. We are particularly pleased that this living space will be benefitial for both students entering independent life and educators compelled to leave their university due to conflicts. This provision will serve as an additional incentive for them to work in our city,” Lutsk City Mayor added. Ihor Polishchuk emphasized the high quality of the repairs performed as well as comfort of the housing facilities.
“This project is a great example of effective support of the European Union for Ukrainian people,” he summarized.

The redesigned buildings with the total area of 3.5 thousand square meters include 54 rooms for students, 8 smart apartments designed mainly for families, 7 apartments with improved layouts. On the ground floor, rooms for people with disabilities are equipped with inclusive facilities, including bathrooms, elevators and ramps. All rooms have been renovated: there are household appliances, kitchens, bathrooms and electrical appliances available for the residents.
