Lutsk Hosted a Cross-Border Picnic within the Implementation of International Project «Promotion and Protection of the Natural Heritage of Urban Rivers and Bank Areas of Rzeszów and Lutsk»
Lutsk City Council and Rzeszów Gmina are working together on the implementation of the project «Promotion and Protection of the Natural Heritage of Urban Rivers and Bank Areas of Rzeszów and Lutsk». Within the project, the cross-border picnic was held in Lesya Ukrainka Central Park of Culture and Recreation. Its program included an environmental quiz, open discussions and walking tours around the city.
Open discussions on «How the spatial planning of the city may be improved in order to preserve its natural heritage» took place near the renovated quay in the Central Park. The secretary of Lutsk City Council Yurii Bezpiatko opened the meeting of experts on the protection of natural heritage, city development, tourism, and the arrangement of urban spaces. He welcomed the participants of the event and emphasized the importance of the natural heritage protection and participation of young people in the project.
The forum speakers discussed the concept of arranging a recreation area along the Styr River in the city of Lutsk, the reconstruction of the natural environment and the creation of a modern area for recreation. The participants also touched upon the role of eco-design in the development of a modern city and the possibility of organizing new types of health tourism in Lutsk reservoirs.
Kateryna Pisotska`s speech was a great success among the participants of the event. She is an expert of the municipal enterprise «Institute of Urban Development» from Vinnytsia who masterly presented the project «Small Rivers of Vinnytsia» and then answered the audience`s questions. Afterwards, city guide Andrii Pavliashyk gave a walking tour around the city telling about the role of rivers in the history of Lutsk and famous events related to them.
Twenty five school teams took part in the environmental quiz. Each team consisted of three 7th and 8th grades schoolchildren of lutsk.
