Semi-final of the cross-border nature quiz took place in Lutsk
Today, at the Korsaks’ Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art, students from all secondary schools of the Lutsk City Territorial Community competed to determine who is the greatest expert in nature. Thirty-eight teams participated in the semi-final cross-border quiz, which aims to increase young people's knowledge about wildlife, biodiversity, natural sites, nature reserves, Natura 2000, and the Emerald Network, as well as to encourage interaction among young nature enthusiasts. The quiz was held as part of the international project "Wild life in a big city: protection and promotion of wild nature and biodiversity in Lutsk and Rzeszów".
The intellectual event was attended by Deputy Mayor of Lutsk, Iryna Chebeliuk, and a delegation from the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg NEXT Programme Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 from Lviv.
Iryna Chebeliuk congratulated the progressive youth of our community and noted that she was very impressed by the interest of pupils in the topic of nature.
"I am impressed with your engagement and perception, as well as the way you work in a team and answer questions. This shows that our city and our country have a future. It is nice that young people are actively interested in wildlife conservation. Lutsk City Council takes many actions to preserve ecological spaces and territories for our youth. Of course, the challenges of time and the impact on the environment of the processes taking place in our country and human activity make adjustments to our lives. We care about the lives and health of our children. And programs related to nature conservation are important and highly prioritized for us," she said.
Five teams became the winners of the quiz: "Modestyky" of Lutsk gymnasium No. 4, "Green Community" of Lutsk Secondary School No. 11, "EcoFriends" of Lutsk Gymnasium No. 14, "Tvorchi" of Lutsk Secondary School No. 23, and "Green Guard" of Lutsk Educational Complex No. 26.
